I think I developed a different perception of beauty from average Koreans.
(I actually have some friends who can back me up on this.)
I didn't notice until I came across 김태희.
I have no idea why she is so popular in Korea.
For me, she is just not ugly. I don't know if she is pretty or hot or cute.....
Well, out of all the pictures of her I looked at today, the second one is the only one I can appreciate - for a tiny little bit - and I know it's because of the shadow-ish make-up.
The rest of the pictures were just some big-eyed, fair-skinned, decent-looking Korean girl to me.
But she is considered like one of the prettiest actresses in Korea.
Until very recently, I honestly wasn't not be able to tell people how 김태희 looks like. I watched bits of the Love Story in Harvard, but I was never impressed. She was nothing so I just forgot about her. I sometimes watch Korean commercials on YouTube once in a while, since they are so different from the American ones, but I never realized it was 김태희 on all those commercials. I thought they picked up some decent looking girl for the commercials.
SHH told me it's because I am Americanized. He also said he could not understand why Koreans are so hot on 김태희. Then he also told me many Koreans think Beyonce is fat... I said "WTF!!!" and he said "Yeah, you are americanized."
I won't forget how Beyonce looks like... but 김태희 is sooo forgettable to me. It's not like she is hot... or cute adorable enough for me to remember.... She is just decent.
I just thought it's something fun to write about... I watched a couple episode of Iris after talking to JYK, but yeah... I thought the North Korean spy was more impressive than 김태희... Oh well... I still think 전지현 is pretty, so my perception is still within the range of many Koreans'... only 김태희 is a huge mystery to me.
