Up

Reviews 2009. 6. 9. 04:42

I have been meaning to watch Star Trek, Terminator and Up ever since they got released.
But on Sunday, I took an 8-mile walk, and I didn't have enough time to watch all three movies to come back home in time for NBA Finals.

I was actually really tired and sleepy from the walk and another short sleep (even if the exam was done),
but I've decided to watch at least one movie, and of course that one movie would be Up.
I have undying love for animations.

I really wanted to watch Up in 3D because I have not watched any 3D movies except when I was a kind in Korea at 63 Building... and I remember pretty much nothing about that experience.

I went to AMC Bay Street 30 minutes before the 3D show only to find that tickets were sold out.
F*ck!
So, I had to watch lame regular version.
And I was soooo sleepy during the previews, I think I actually fell asleep.
I almost bit myself to wake up to watch "Partly Cloudy".

Anyhow, I have plenty of time now to watch movies.... I know I have to finish tons of DVDs I bought (I buy almost all DVDs at $5.99 or below if they had decent reviews) and 2-months-stuck Netflix movies first, but it's just a different experience to go to movies and be alone. I am still very awkward about it, but I don't know why I want to do it.

Anyway, about this movie...

It was very good. The first part passed fast - it was about the couple's lives ever since they met each other.
They got together due to their love for adventures but actual explorations never happened because they had to make living. But they never gave hope of going to the Paradise Falls sometime.
Without any babies, it was one of the strongest bonds that both had in their lives together.

Carl perhaps never thought that Ellie regarded their lives together was a very pleasant adventure that she had.

After Ellie's death, Carl realized that there is nothing to lose and decides to fly his house to the Paradise Falls - one thing Carl and Ellie always dreamed of.
During the trip, he finds that he won't be alone in his life after Ellie's death as he develops friendship with Russel.

It was a very pleasant movie, but it was not as impressive as Wall-E.
Perhaps the first part got a little too emotional and left me less energy to appreciate the excitements and fun parts of the adventures.
Nonetheless, a very good animation.
I am planning to watch in 3D soon... probably by myself again.
At this point, just nothing beats Wall-e... I am not sure if it was the movie or the memories embedded within it, but personally, nothing beats Wall-E.
