Finding a common area where my interest and job meet...
Well, let's be honest.
I love computers.
I don't care if my car gets scratched here and there.
Well, I feel bad, but I will forget after 2 minutes it happened.
But I will cry if something happens to my computer.
It's not a fancy computer, not a fancy laptop with 5 hour battery life, silent processors, fans, good wide screen, and yada yada yada....
but I love my computer and if something happens, I will go nuts.
When I had to re-install my HDD, I had lost my appetite.
When my touch pad didn't work after cleaning the interior parts, I almost cried - I forgot to plug a cord inside before closing the body, so my touch pad works just fine now...
It's a big irony considering that I was a math major who didn't know how to program stuff..
Well, I am no longer a computer gamer - although I hope to be a PS3 gamer,
and that means I spend most of the time doing internet stuff including watching Korean shows or Netflix movies...
My work, although requires me to use a computer all the time, is mainly playing on excel, word, and research on Internet about industries and companies related to the businesses I am valuing. These businesses I am valuing are all silicon valley high tech companies.
Most of the companies are in softwares, Internet, Solar Power and semiconductors. I was told that a number of our clients are also making HDDs and stuff, but so far, I haven't had to deal with one .
Solar companies are rather boring, since one research can handle all of them.
For some reason, all the solar power start-ups are doing photovoltaic products... They are all betting it to be the next big thing in the energy industry, and everyone in semiconductor background seems to be jumping on that boat while none of them so far have actually developed a final product to market.
I get more excited at work when I am valuing companies in softwares and Internet stuff. I do try them out and get to know a lot how the new things are emerging on the Internet, and it's fun. Recently, I worked on Pandora and Lala, they were alright... Had some issues, but as free services, they were cool. While searching for many things on Internet, that's how I heard about Twitter and Flock - which I find rather useful and fun. I haven't tried Tiny Pictures and other Mobile stuff yet, but I am slowly being tempted to try all those as well.
I am now no longer in IMing as I used to be, but somehow all these things keep me near a computer. What makes me ponder is I am not 100% sure where I feel content from: doing the appraisal or doing some work very slightly related to all those Internet and software companies...
