Public Enemies

Yet again...
another superb superb acting by Johnny Depp.
He was extremely charismatic in this film that made Christian Bale a boring imitation of the Batman.
Not saying Bale was bad in this movie, but he looked so boring after scenes of Depp.
In this movie, Depp also kept his tone very low and level... no squeaky noises he made as Captain Jack Sparrow.
Marion Cotillard also adds a lot of flavor from her supporting role... Of course, she wasn't as charismatic as when she portrayed Edith Piaf in La vie en rose (also titled La momo), but she was a very mellow but strong-willed girl in this movie, which well followed her last movie I watched in Un long dimanche de fiançailles, where she portrayed a murderer who revenged death of her lover.

Depp is John Dillinger, who was a bank robber during the Great Depression.

I seriously had no issues with any actors here,
but I was constantly annoyed with the camera work and how music was embedded in this move.
The camera work made me feel like a fist person shooting game.
Sure, it could have added some excitement at first, but since then it was just annoying over and over again with the camera rotating from one scene to another. It was just an HD home video feeling for me.
Or an HD first-person shooting game.
It was bad...
and the music was bad... not the selection, but how it was embedded in the movie, was definitely no my type.
It later got on my nerves.

It's such a pity that Depp has not won so many awards because of his choices to work with Burton and "project" films such as this one. He, I think, is one of the best actors out there. Acting-wise, he could be the best since he can play so many roles so fittingly.

A movie with great acting but sub-par quality.
