Ignorant Before the Heavens of My Life
Ignorant before the heavens of my life,
I stand and gaze in wonder. Oh the vastness
of the stars. Their rising and descent. How still.
As if I didn't exist. Do I have any
share in this? Have I somehow dispensed with
their pure effect? Does my blood's ebb and flow
change with their changes? Let me put aside
every desire, every relationship
except this one, so that my heart grows used to
its farthest spaces. Better that it live
fully aware, in the terror of its stars, than
as if protected, soothed by what is near.

Dr. Garcia, my philosophy professor, used to read out his poems in the early class of 0730...
On that time, I rented many collection of Rilke's poems from library and read them...
There was a favorite one I had, but it's been more than two years since I read them and I cannot remember... However, I have memory of what it felt like...
Despite of words that sound so incomprehensible, scrutinizing on each word of Rilke will make you feel what you are to feel, like this poem.
I shall be putting his poems in this blog from time to time, but I must say here that his words are not worthy for mouth to echo it... What I mean is, your heart should read it out loud... Then you are being a being!!!
This poem echoes my feeling when I look up the sky... However, when you are able to question such, when you feel the feeling of being a part of all the being, then you are in being as a being...
